The Dell PowerVault MD3000 storage array is a 3U platform built to maximize application performance and storage capacity in Dell PowerEdge servers. Administrators can mix and match SAS and SATA drives to create the optimum storage environment for their data needs.
The Dell PowerVault MD3000 storage array houses up to 15 LFF drives to maximize storage capacity and application performance in Dell PowerEdge servers. When expanded to its full DAS capacity, this enclosure can hold up to 45 drives to provide a maximum internal storage capacity of 90TB. Dell's MD Storage Manager Software can monitor multiple systems through a single interface for hassle-free system management.
This storage array holds up to 15 LFF hard disk drives to provide a maximum internal storage capacity of 30TB in a 3U chassis. Expansion of this Dell MD3000 is easily accomplished by daisy-chaining a maximum of two Dell MD1000 expansion arrays, each of which support 15 high-capacity 3.5-inch drives, for a total of 45 drives. All drives are hot-swappable for quick upgrades and replacements to minimize system downtime. This direct-attached storage array can support a mixture of SAS, SATA, and near-line SAS drives, but SSD drives are not supported. Administrators can choose between single and dual controller configurations that support RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 5, and 6. Single controller configurations will support up to two non-redundant servers or one high-availability server, whereas dual configurations will support twice the amount of servers in both environments and deliver redundancy.
Dell's MD Storage Manager Software features a graphical user interface (GUI) with a task-oriented structure that simplifies the complexity of system management. This software can be accessed via the host server or through a storage management station connected to the same sub-network as the storage array. When a problem is detected, a "Recovery Guru" launches automatically to help troubleshoot the system and configure for optimal performance. Key-enabled premium features, like Virtual Disk Copy creates disk-based backups to significantly reduce restore time after a system failure.
The Dell PowerVault MD3000 storage array is built with redundant components and connections to reduce system downtime and prevent data loss. This storage array can support up to 15 LFF drives by itself, or can be expanded with two MD1000 enclosures to house a total of 45 drives. Hot-swappable drives make for easy repairs, and SAS and SATA drives can be mixed in a single enclosure to create the optimal environment for the anticipated workload. Troubleshooting is stress-free with Dell's "Recovery Guru" that detects issues as they arise and offers task-guided solutions to get the system back to an up and running.
