The HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 delivers enterprise-level performance, expandability, and security in a tower server chassis compatible with dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. Each CPU socket supports 12x DIMM slots for a total of 24x slots on the system board. Storage solutions on this system include a total of 24x Small Form Factor hybrid drive bays or 12x Large Form Factor hybrid drive bays. 8x PCIe 3.0 slots are accessible from the rear of the chassis.
Designed for high-performance tasks for small to medium businesses, the HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen10 Server can be outfitted with dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. There are a total of 24x DIMM slots on the system board evenly divided between each of the CPU sockets. At full capacity, it will support up to 3TB of memory. A total of 24x 2.5-inch (SFF) hybrid hot-swappable drive bays or 12x 3.5-inch (LFF) hot-swappable hybrid drive bays are available on the front of the system when optional drive cages are installed. Mixing different form factor drives are not allowed. Eight PCIe slots are available to expand system capabilities.
Dual 1st or 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable Processors can be installed on this HPE ML350 Gen10 Server. The hardware configuration on this system provides support for processors with a minimum of 4x physical cores to a maximum of 28x physical cores. Virtual thread counts range from 8x and 56x, per CPU. Dual fans at the rear of the chassis are standard for basic system cooling. An optional redundant fan kit with 4x hot-pluggable fans can be installed in a N + 1 redundant configuration just behind the drive backplane supporting 2P and/or advanced cooling requirements.
The Scalable CPUs support 6x memory channels. Each memory channel supports 2x DIMM slots for a total of 24x DIMM slots and 12x DIMM slots per CPU. The maximum memory configuration on this system is 3TB when 128GB DDR4 Load Reduced (LRDIMM) DIMMs are installed. Registered (RDIMM) modules will provide half the capacity of LRDIMMs. Maximum supported memory speeds supported on this system are 2933MT/s.
Storage on the HPE ML350 Gen10 is generous with support for up to 24 x 2.5-inch SAS, SATA SSDs HDDs and up to eight SFF NVMe PCIe drives with the additional of optional drive cages. The 2.5-inch chassis configuration supports a default drive cage on the lower portion of the chassis with 8x 2.5-inch drive bays. Two additional drive cages, each of which can support 8x 2.5-inch drives, can be installed bringing the total to 24x 2.5-inch drive bays. Up to 8x NVMe drives are supported but only on the 2.5-inch chassis and must be installed in the center-mounted optional Express Bay drive cage. An NVMe kit has two x4 Direct Attached PCIe NVMe riser boards each of which can support four drives or a total of eight with both risers installed. A 4-Bay 3.5-inch drive bay chassis configuration supports up to 12 front-mounted drive bays, total when upgraded with 2x additional drive cages. Each drive cage can support 4x 3.5-inch drives for a total of 12x drive bays. Each configuration has a control panel at the top with system health, NIC status, two USB 3.0 ports and a dedicated iLO service port. A front bezel with security lock is standard equipment on this system. A single MicroSD card slot is located adjacent to PCIe slots 5-8 below the power supply. Managing the hard drives is accomplished with either the integrated HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 offering SW RAID or an optional HPE Smart Array Gen10 controller providing a hardware RAID solution and is required for SAS drive support. M.2 drives are supported by a universal enablement card kit and is limited to PCIe slots 1-4 and supports. Only one universal enablement card kit is supported and provides software RAID only. Some of these configurations may require a redundant fan kit.
Eight PCIe 3.0 slots provide connections for a number of devices to support your workload. PCIe slots 1-4 located in the lower back of the chassis are supported by CPU 1, and optional GPUs can be installed in slots 1 and 3. PCI slots 5-8 are active with the addition of a second processor with slots 5 and 7 supporting optional GPUs. You can install up to four double-width GPUs like the Nvidia P4000, P6000 and Tesla P40 but only two Nvidia Tesla M10 quad GPU modules. There is an embedded four port 1GbE on the back of the system but you have a lot of choices for network communications with 1GbE, 10GbE, 10/25GbE, and 100GbE QSFP. The same goes for Smart Array HD/RAID controllers—lots of choices.
Management of the HPE ML350 Server is made easy with HPE’s suite of management tools including HPE integrated Lights Out (iLO) Advanced for out-of-band management of the system. HPE OneView helps with even more management tools for converged infrastructures and multiple servers. Security on all of the Gen10 servers has also been updated with Runtime Firmware Validation, which is part of the iLO Advanced Premium Security Edition. Secure recovery allows you to roll back the firmware to the last known version that was not compromised.
