The HPE Synergy 480 Gen9 Compute Module is perfect for companies that need a flexible, modular IT infrastructure to rapidly scale on demand. Two processors on each module support 24 DIMM slots and up to 1.5TB of memory. Both memory and storage are easily customizable with many different options to choose from.
All of HPE’s Synergy compute modules are supported on the HPE Synergy 12000 Frame. The compute modules provide the compute, memory, and storage, while the Synergy 12000 Frame provides redundant power, cooling, networking, and management features. Up to 6 full-height modules, 12 half-height modules or a combination of the two can be installed. The HPE Synergy 480 Gen9 Compute Module performs well when tasked with demanding workloads. The module has a half-height form factor and supports both Load Reduced and Registered DIMMs, with maximum capacities of 1.5TB and 768GB, respectively. It supports a massive 7.68TB of storage.
Featuring Intel’s C610 Series chipset, the HPE 480 Gen9 can support a maximum of two Intel Xeon E5-2600 v4 processors with up to 22 cores each. Each processor supports four memory channels with three DIMM modules per channel and 12 DIMM slots per processor total.
There are 24 DIMM slots supporting either Load Reduced (LRDIMM) or Registered (RDIMM) DDR4 memory modules. The maximum capacity for LRDIMMs is 1.5TB using 24 x 64GB memory modules. Using RDIMMs memory modules, the system will support a maximum of 768GB using 24 x 32GB memory modules. Advanced ECC is also available along with Memory Mirroring and Memory Online Spark Mode offering additional data protection.
There are two drive bays located on the front of the system that support only hot-plug 2.5-inch drives. A wide range of different drive types are supported, including SFF SAS and SATA HDDs and SSDs. To protect your stored data and increase resiliency, you can choose from several storage controllers. HPE’s Smart Array P240nr Controller offers RAID levels of 0, 1, 10, 5, 6, and 1 with Advanced Data Mirroring (ADM). Meanwhile the HPE Smart Array P542D Controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 50, 60, 1 ADM, and 10 ADM.
To expand the capabilities of this system there are three x16 PCIe 3.0 I/O mezzanine connectors. The mezzanine connectors support Type C and Type D mezzanine cards. Options include dual-port 10/20 Gb compute module mezzanine adapters and dual-port 16 Gb Fibre Channel HBA options. In addition to the mezzanine connectors, this system is also compatible with a network controller. Options include, HPE Synergy 3820C 10/20 Gb, 3520C 10/20 Gb, and 2820C 10/20 Gb Converged Network Adapters. An iLO Network Controller is also standard on this system.
HPE integrated Lights Out (iLO) with 4GB NAND is the Swiss army knife of HPE’s system management tools and provides out-of-band management of the system. Additional tools such as the HPE Synergy Composer with HPE OneView provide even more tools to manage the system. HPE iLO helps you monitor the system with alerts, reports, and remote management features.
The HPE Synergy 480 Gen9 supports a generous memory component at up to 1.5TB and can provide your business with a flexible infrastructure that can scale on the fly, just by adding more compute modules. With an assortment of different processor options to choose from, you can configure a system that works best for you and your workload. HPE’s exceptional integrated management tools and software can also help you manage your system from the beginning, to end of life.
