Equipped with a single socket, the Dell Precision 3640 workstation tower supports either a 10th generation Intel Core processor or an Intel Xeon W-1200 series CPU. Up to 128GB of unbuffered DDR4 memory is offered with 32GB memory modules installed among 4x memory module slots. Memory speed is listed at up to 2933 MHz. Under the hood, the system features 4x 2.5-inch SATA HDDs or 3x 3.5-inch SATA HDDs.
In addition to the drive bays on this system, there are 3x M.2 NVMe SSDs on the motherboard. 2x are available via M.2 2280 slots on the motherboard and 1x via the Dell Ultra Speed Drive. One of the M.2 slots can be used to support an optional WiFi 6 card. With high performance Intel processors, the Precision 3640 workstation tower offers GPU support such as the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000. This GPU is installed in the PCIe Gen3 x16 slot. Onboard graphics are also supported if you decide not to add a GPU. There is also a PCIe Gen3 x4 slot for expansion. A lone 1GbE port utilizes the chipset Intel i219 controller. The system is powered by an ATX 1000W Gold rated power supply that swings out on a hinge for easy servicing.
