Outfitted with one of Intel’s Xeon w7-2400 CPUs, the HP Z4 G5 Workstation Tower can have up to 24x cores and with hyperthreading, 48x virtual threads. W5 CPUs will supply up to 16 cores, while w3 CPUs can provide up to 8x cores. All feature Intel’s Hyperthreading technology, effectively doubling the physical core count to include twice the number of virtual threads. Also supported are up to 2x NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada Generation GPUs or AMD Radeon W6800 GPUs for added computational acceleration. With a large memory footprint, this system is ideal for memory-intensive applications. It can accept multiple storage options, including front-accessible hot-swappable NVMe for up to 76TB of storage. This exceptional platform has integrated WiFi so you can work from anywhere, assuming you have a WiFi connection. Wi-Fi 6 is an optional feature that must be configured at the time of purchase.
HP Anywhere enables users to access their designs remotely to initiate changes. Administrators can also manage fleets of workstations using HP Anywhere. This system has independent software verification (ISV) certification for error-free performance with the top software applications. At full capacity the system can support up to 512GB of ECC GDDR5 memory using registered (RDIMM) memory modules in all 8x memory module slots on the system board. Thanks to the Intel Xeon W-2400 CPUs 8x memory channels, the system features a single memory module in each memory channel for optimal memory bandwidth and supported memory speeds of 4800MT/s using w7 CPUs or up to 4400MT/s using w3 CPUs.
Utilizing a number of supported and optional storage mediums, this workstation can support up to 76TB of storage. That includes up to 2x optional front-mounted NVMe Hot-swappable storage drives that would mount in one of the 5.25-inch media bays. The system features support for 2x 9.5mm optical disk drives, plus 4x internal 3.5-inch drive bays, and support for up to 4x PCIe M.2 SSDs. Additional storage options are supported using after-market storage options.
Up to 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes are supported by the Intel Xeon W-2400 CPUs. Additionally, up to 16x PCIe 4.0 and up to 12 PCIe 3.0 lanes ae provided by the Intel W790 chipset, depending on the CPU SKU. The HP Z4 G5 Workstation Tower has 5x PCIe slots using a combination of PCIe 5.0 and PCIe 4.0 lane bandwidths. It can support a maximum of 2x double-wide high-performance GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD.
The premium version of the HP Z4 G5 Workstation Tower also offers 2x SuperSpeed USB Type-C ports providing data transfer speeds of up to 20Gb/s, plus 2x SuperSpeed USB Type-A ports offering 5Gb/s. The Entry version has 4x front accessible SuperSpeed USB Type-A ports offering 5Gb/s. Both versions offer 6x SuperSpeed USB Type-A ports on the back of the chassis but there are some additional differences.
