The Lenovo ThinkStation P8 Workstation is a high-performance system designed for demanding professional applications, featuring a single socket for an AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000 WX series processor. Depending on the CPU, it can deploy up to 12 to 96 physical cores and 24 to 192 virtual threads. Its 33L tower design, developed in collaboration with Aston Martin, features a “Storm Grey” and red aesthetic. This workstation is ideal for industries requiring high processing power, including scientific simulations, large-scale data analysis, and 3D rendering.
Under the hood, the 4U Lenovo ThinkStation P8 Workstation can be outfitted with up to 3x double-width GPUs or 4x single-width cards. The system includes 4x PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, plus 2x PCIe 5.0 x8 slots and 1x PCIe 4.0 x8 slot. The maximum number of supported monitors depends on the specific graphics card used. 3x PCIe 4.0 x4 slots on the system board are for NVMe M.2 drives.
With 8x memory channel architecture provided by the AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7000WX series processor, the ThinkStation P8 delivers optimal memory performance with 8x DDR5 memory module slots on the system board. Featuring only one DIMM per channel (1DPC), the Ryzen PRO 7000 WX series CPU enables memory speeds of up to 4800MHz for both Registered and 3DS Registered DIMMs. This platform can provide up to 1TB of DDR5 ECC memory when all slots are populated with 128GB modules.
The front panel includes 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports and 2x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports, along with a diagnostic panel that activates automatically if an error occurs. The rear panel offers choices between a 1000W or 1400W 92% efficient PSU and features 2x RJ45 ports: one providing 10GbE and the other 1GbE.
Fully equipped, the Lenovo P8 can provide up to 52TB of storage*. Standard internal storage includes up to 3x NVME M.2 drives and 2x 3.5-inch drives bays. Drive capacities include M.2 storage devices up to 4TB each, U.3 PCIe NVMe drives up to 15.36TB, and 3.5-inch SATA drives with a 12TB capacity. Additionally, an optional front storage cage can hold a single M.2 drive in a pop-out aluminum caddy. The internal 3.5-inch drive bays can also be converted to support dual NVMe M.2 drives in each of the two bays or a single U.3 NVMe drive in each bay. Another option mounts a 3.5-inch SATA drive with a plastic bracket straddling the CPU and memory module slots. The BIOS supports NVMe and SATA RAID configurations, including RAID 0, 1, and 5 via the integrated SATA controller, and RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 via the onboard NVMe controller.
