The Supermicro UP Workstation 531A-IL is designed for CAD and 3D modeling, plus 2D and 3D content creation. It features a single 12th generation Intel Core I processor with support for up to 128GB of memory, and 4x 3.5-inch SATA storage bays with an additional 4x bay drive cage that can support 4x more 2.5-inch drives, plus optional 2 x 5.25" peripheral bays and 3x PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives for super fast storage.
Supporting a single 12th generation Intel Core i9, i7, i5 or i3 processor, the Supermicro UP 531A-IL Workstation supports up 24 cores and 4x DDR5 DIMM slots. Air cooling is standard equipment but the system is also compatible with a CPU liquid cooler. With 5 PCIe slots, including 2 x PCIe 3.0 x4 FHFL, 2 x PCIe 5.0 x16FHFL and 1 x 5V PCI 32bit slot, the system can support 2x double-wide GPUs depending on wattage. It also features a 7.1+2 channel high-definition audio (HAD) codec with 10DAC channels. The system supports Windows 10 and 11 plus Linux operating systems. A single, non-redundant 688W multi-output Platinum power supply unit powers the system, which features a mid-tower case that can be rack-mounted using an optional rail kit. The system has an HDMi and DVI port supported by the CPU but it can also be outfitted with a discrete GPU.
Outfitted with a single 12th Gen Intel Core CPU, the 531A-IL workstation supports 4x 32GB DRAM DIMM slots on the system board. A fully configured system can offer up to 128GB of 4400MHz ECC DDR5 UDIMM.
Standard equipment includes 4x 3.5-inch drive bays that can support 4x 2.5-inch drives by optional internally mounted drive cage, and 3 PCIe 4.0 slots that can support 2280 form factor M.2 drives with RAID of 0, 1, and 5.
There are 7x PCIe slots on the system board total with 3x PCIe 4.0 slots for M.2 drive support plus 2x PCIe 5.0 slots and 2x PCIe 3.0 slots. The PCIe 5.0 slots are x16 in length and connect to a x16 PCIe bus. The other PCIe 3.0 slots have an open end x4 slot. There is also a single 5V PCIe 32bit slot.
SuperDoctor 5 features a browser based, intuitive user interface and is available in two versions, one with local management capabilities and another with local and remote management capabilities. SuperDoctor 5 also allows for remote power on/off of the system plus monitoring of fans speed, temperature, voltage, and system status. The Supermicro UP Workstation 531A-IL is a mid-range workstation offering a number of performance options for support of compute and graphics-intensive workloads. In addition to CAS, 3D modeling, and content creation, it is also suitable for VR content development.
